Tom de Haas, MASc PEng

Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder

Tom co-founded Interface Fluidics to bring breakthrough microfluidic technology to the energy industry. Through his previous role at CTO and now as CEO, he has led the company’s growth from idea to global customer base, raising two rounds of venture capital investment and building a world-class team of engineers and scientists. Under his leadership, Interface has pioneered the world’s first commercial high-pressure microfluidic PVT system, setting new standards for fluid analysis. With a background in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in microfluidics from the University of Toronto, Tom combines deep technical expertise with a passion for scaling deep-tech companies. He is a frequent speaker on innovation in energy and fluid science.

Ali Abedini, PhD PEng

Chief Operating Officer

Ali Abedini brings over 15 years of academic and industry expertise in subsurface engineering, microfluidics, and technology commercialization. He leads strategic management and oversees technical execution, R&D, business development, and product commercialization. Dr. Abedini has authored over 75 peer-reviewed publications, holds multiple patents in microfluidics for subsurface energy and storage, and contributes actively to the scientific community as a reviewer and committee member for journals, conferences, funding agencies, and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).

Finance Manager

Dawna Polson is Finance Manager at Interface Fluidics, where she oversees accounting, ERP, and payroll systems while working closely with the CEO to deliver board reporting, financial forecasts, and operational insights. With over 25 years of experience spanning venture-backed start-ups, oil & gas, agriculture, manufacturing, and public accounting.

David Sinton, PhD PEng

Executive Technology Advisor, Board Member, and Co-Founder

David Sinton is Executive Technology Advisor and Co-Founder of Interface Fluidics, and a Professor in Mechanical & Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto, holding the Tier I Canada Research Chair in Microfluidics and Energy. A pioneer in applying microfluidics to energy, he has published over 300 academic papers and has over 49,000 citations.

Michael Hill joined Interface Fluidics in 2019 after assisting Interface with its previous seed and venture capital financing rounds. Michael brings more than 25 years of corporate finance and operational management experience with both public and private companies.
