Mission
We are a technology company providing energy industry clients insights into the interactions and properties of reservoir fluids to help them improve their financial performance, reduce their carbon footprint and ensure the responsible development of their oil and gas assets.
Investors
Interface is a product of amazing Canadian and International startup ecosystems. We started with seed funding from US and Canadian individuals and funds and have grown with backing from Norwegian, American, and Omani venture capital.
Leadership Team
Stuart Kinnear
Stuart provides leadership developing and managing Interface's strategic initiatives.
He is passionate about leveraging information and data to increase efficiencies in oil production. With over a decade leading teams in the oil and gas industry, Stuart brings an extensive background in business intelligence, supply management, and contract negotiations.
He holds a Masters of Business Administration, with a specialization in International Business, and a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance from the University of Victoria.
Tom de Haas
Tom leads Interface's operations and the development of Interface’s automated nanotechnology platform. He’s a pioneer in oilfield nanofluidics and continues to successfully achieve new limits on the platform’s capabilities for oil and gas applications.
Tom brings practical experience to Interface through his experience working at a large operator, developing and applying new technologies to improve business outcomes across steam extraction processes, piping, and pressure vessel design.
He earned a Masters of Applied Science specializing in microfluidics for energy applications from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Victoria.
David Sinton
Dr. Sinton provides visionary direction and expertise to Interface’s technical development and training processes. He is an international thought leader with over 200 published papers.
Dr. Sinton continues to hold his positions as a professor, the Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Microfluidics and Energy, and the Associate Chair of Research in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto.
David holds a PhD from the University of Toronto, a Masters of Engineering from McGill University, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto.
Ali Abedini
Dr. Abedini leads technical execution, operational strategy formulation, project management, product development and commercialization. He has authored more than 60 journal articles and conference papers, furthering the development of the field of nanofluidics for the energy industry. He is also an active technical reviewer and editorial board member for numerous esteemed journals and national/provincial research grants.
Ali holds a PhD in Petroleum Systems Engineering from the University of Regina, a Masters of Science in Reservoir Engineering, and a Bachelor of Science from the Petroleum University of Technology.
Wayne Chen
Wayne leads the accounting and finance function for Interface. He has worked in private, public and non-profit sectors across diverse industries of technology, retail, distribution, and manufacturing. He has expertise in developing financial plans, directing financial initiatives and operations, managing budgets and forecasts, building financial models, implementing financial systems and upgrades, and driving process efficiencies.
Wayne is a designated CPA, CMA and holds a BCom in Finance from McGill University.
Michael Hill
Michael provides direction and expertise to Interface Fluidics based on his extensive corporate finance and business background.
Michael joined Interface Fluidics in 2019 after assisting Interface with its previous seed and venture capital financing rounds.
Michael brings over 25 years of corporate finance and operational management experience with both public and private companies. His career began with a B.Sc in Civil Engineering from the University of Alberta and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario.
Chris Tilleman
Chris provides Interface insight into business development and corporate relations through his 10+ years of experience in the oil and gas sector.
His primary focus involves innovation and optimization through all aspects of the oil and gas lifecycle. Working with clients in all regions of the globe has given Chris experience in developing business and products at an international scale.
Chris has a Bachelor’s Degree in Entrepreneurship focused in International Business.
